TIME

Offered in partnership with Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, TIME (Together In Motion and Exercise) is a modified exercise program suitable for adults with mobility challenges who can walk at least 10 meters and may use a cane or walker. Exercises are designed to increase strength, balance, mobility and overall health. For more information please leave a message for George: 416.392.1509 ext. 411

Horticulture Therapy – ended March 30th

The horticultural therapy program facilitated opportunities for community members to connect with each other, nature and themselves. In this group we used nature and its beauty as a point of connection to bring the community together. This program was held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:00pm at the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre. And on Fridays as posted on the calendar in the community room of local housing partners. This program ran until March 30th, 2018. Participants attended trips to gardens across the GTA, butterfly conservatories and much more. They enjoyed visiting guest speakers and we are grateful to have support from local businesses and community members who helped to enrich the experience for participants. We explored nature, mindfulness and journaling. Holistic wellness using the healing elements of our beautiful surroundings in Toronto. Special thanks to our program funder: Government of Canada – New Horizons for Seniors.

  • Neighbour 2 Neighbour 2.0 – by appointment

    “Neighbour to Neighbour 2.0 keeps isolated seniors connected! As part of a collaboration between four community-focused agencies (Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre, The Neighbourhood Group, West Neighbourhood House and Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre), N2N 2.0 works to reduce social isolation in older adults. We match older adults with staff and volunteers as part of our friendly visiting program. Do you want to be a part of our volunteer team or do you know a senior who is isolated and would benefit from our program?

  • NEW! Horticultural Therapy Club

    The Horticultural Therapy Club is a NEW program that is open to all older adults and seniors. We will be offering workshops that include nutrition, healing benefits of plants, meditation, and yoga in the garden and food environmental justice sessions. There will also be container gardening, decorating planters, and creating bird, bees and butterfly habitats. The group will also enjoy local nature walks and trips.
