Summer Caretaker Assistant – Student Contract

Assists the Manager, Facility Operations with the responsibilities for the overall day to day cleaning and maintenance of the indoor and outdoor areas of Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre.


  1. Maintains co-operative working relationships with the public.
  2. Carries out inside and outside maintenance and caretaking duties according to the daily maintenance schedule to keep building and grounds clean and neat.
  3. Sets up and breaks down rooms for meetings/events.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma and/or combination of education/work experience related to the position.
  • Applicants must meet the criteria as set out by the funders. Youth between the ages of 15 and 18 years, a full-time student and returning to school full-time in the Fall 2022.
  • Basic understanding of WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Requirements.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required.


  • Demonstrated ability to learn and to perform a large variety of job-related duties.
  • Ability to maintain co-operative working relationships with the public.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

Salary Scale:         Summer Contract – Student Rate

$15.82/hr. + 4% vacation and mandatory Employment Standards benefits

Start Date:            July 4, 2022 – September 2, 2022 | 35 hours/week | Monday – Friday with 1 hour unpaid lunch
